A Massachusetts man has had his truck viciously vandalized and spray painted with hateful, anti-Trump messages for the second time in the past month.
Marty Tompkins, an avid Trump supporter living in Sommerville, woke up to a horrifying sight on Sunday morning. Tompkins proudly displayed a “Make America Great Again” bumper sticker along with a National Rifle Associate sticker on his rear window.
This display of support for President Donald Trump apparently triggered the vandal(s), as Tompkins found his truck windshield smashed with a blunt object. His truck was also littered with spray paint spray paint spelling out phrases such as “BLM”, the acronym for Black Lives Matter. The name “Bernie” was also spray painted on the front bumper, an apparent reference to far-left politician Bernie Sanders,
The vandal didn’t stop at Tompkin’s truck, however, as they also obscured the window of his home where he was displaying a Trump campaign sign from 2016. In addition, the phrase “Trump Is Next” was spray-painted on his home.
While his car was parked in front of his home on Beacon Street, vandals spray-painted the letters “BLM,” the acronym for “Black Lives Matter,” across the hood of Tompkin’s car.
Thick red spray paint was used in an attempt to cover up his stickers and paint hateful messages all over his car.
The front of the Tompkin’s house was also vandalized with spray-paint with a threat that reads “Trump is Next.”
He says this isn’t the first time he’s been targeted for his political preferences – and it’s starting to take a toll on his finances, as well. “I only have the basic insurance on the vehicle,” Tompkins said. “So all repairs are out of my own out-of-pocket expense.”
With only basic insurance, Tompkins says the clean-up won’t come cheap.
“$400 for the windshield and then all my hard work cleaning it,” Tompkins said.
Because of the threatening nature of these messages, there have been reports that the Secret Service are investigating the incident as it is considered a national security concern.
Tompkins reports that this wasn’t the first time vandals targeted his truck because of pro-Trump messages on it, and he believes it’s the same person who vandalized his property last month.
He believes the same person has been targeting his car.
“He thinks he’s having fun,” Tompkins said. “First time I caught him, he was in the back of the truck and I called him a little girl and that’s why he came back. Second time he only broke the windshield and wrote on it with a magic marker and this time he came back for a paint job.”
The first incident regarding anti-Trump vandalism happened last month at the same location, and both incidents are under investigation.
The Somerville News Weekly reports that, according to sources at the scene, this incident has been reported to the United States Secret Service as it is now considered a matter of national security given the threat made to the President.
“Even if you dislike the president, that’s no way to act [like] you know both sides of the aisle, there are a lot of contentious issues out there but don’t resort to vandalism and don’t resort to violence,” Tompkins said.
Unfortunately, Tompkins says he only has the bare minimum insurance on his truck and will be forced to pay out-of-pocket for the considerable repairs needed.
It’s no secret that most areas of the state of Massachusetts are firmly Democrat, leaving many Trump supporters forced to hide their political affiliation. It’s a sad day in America when, especially in many urban areas of the country, a citizen can be bullied, intimidated and have their property/lives threatened for nothing more than supporting a sitting president.
However, anger runs deep in the left, as liberals tend to make their decisions based on the emotions that their feeling at any given moment. Currently, many anti-Trump leftists are feeling immense amounts of rage on a daily basis due to not getting their way in the 2016 election. This rage inevitably manifests itself into physically attacking or destroying a person’s property who disagrees with them politically, rather than attempting to engage in civilized discourse. It’s likely this rage is not going to subside anytime soon, at least not until the left get’s their way and removes Trump from office, and Trump supporters are forced to be extra careful when displaying their support of Trump and his “America First” agenda.
